August 14, 2017 – MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING FOR TOWN OF FRANKLIN
The August monthly meeting for the Town of Franklin was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Dick Wochos, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Officers present: Dick Wochos, Jim Wacek, Katie Duckart, Judy Kunesh and Joan Raisleger.
Jim Wacek made a motion to approve the agenda. Katie Duckart seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Katie Duckart made a motion to accept the minutes as printed from the July Town Board meeting. Jim Wacek seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Treasurer Judy Kunesh presented the Treasurer’s Report, which shows a balance of $121,885.77. Katie Duckart made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Jim Wacek seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
Visitors: Shawn Wendt appeared before the Town Board asking about the mowing of the town ditches. The Town Board explained that the first cutting was just one pass and the fence to fence cutting will be later in September.
Allan Schlies also appeared before the Town Board asking if the Town had any ordinances allowing ATVs to drive on town roads. Katie Duckart explained that she spoke with someone from the Wisconsin Towns Association and they suggested not having an ordinance for liability purposes. Allen went on to state that it is a nonissue for him because his ATV is registered.
Zoning Administrator Jeanne Swagel issued five building permits this past month and is working on more.
Ron Paider did not attend our meeting.
First Responder Suzi Sevcik reported that they had 2-3 calls each month, and that Luxemburg Rescue responded to one of the calls. Two new people are interested in becoming First Responders, and that training might start in October.
Jim Wacek made a motion to approve barriers be installed on Bridge No. P31-0084 located on Old Settlers Road. Katie Duckart seconded the motion. The motion carried.
The issue of a fence for the Hanna dog was discussed, but no action will be taken at this time. Clerk Raisleger will contact the Kewaunee Public Health Department and try to find out if they have received any reports on the Hanna dog.
Town Orders #141 to #152 were discussed, approved and paid.
Our next monthly Town Board meeting will be Monday, September 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Franklin Town Hall/Community Center.
There being no further discussion, the August Town Board meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
